Republicans are showcasing their stance on important issues this week including gun control, abortion, and same sex marriage. Their platform includes a constitutional amendment which would define marriage as between one man and one woman, opposes any form of gun control legislation, and states that "the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed,” according to the AP.

Democrats will have a chance to contrast their views in Charlotte this September. Their platform says Democrats support "marriage equality" and the "movement to secure equal treatment under law for same-sex couples."

In addition to the content political conventions provide another platform, one that gets people pumped up for the final leg of the election. The one universal ingredient for this pep rally is music. A candidate’s song selection can speak volumes about who they are and what they believe. We will have to wait a little bit longer to hear each candidates theme songs but based on the party platforms here are a few suggestions.

Mitt Romney could come out to the child internet sensation “Ain’t No Homo’s Gonna Make It To Heaven” or Fred Eaglesmith’s “Time To Get A Gun.” On the other side of the record Barack Obama could walk out to Biggie Small’s “Mo Money Mo Problems” or Adam Joseph’s “Faggoty Attention.”

Currently there is a 3D video mash-up of President Obama’s speeches on equal rights and Bob Marley’s “One Love” as well as a Mitt Romney-Eminem spoof. Although Mitt won’t walk out to Eminem and Barack Obama won’t be smoking a Marley sized blunt, it is safe to say that both conventions will be full of smoke and mirrors.
